Members were out and about again today this time visiting the well established Wimborne “Hamfest” run by the Flight Refuelling ARS.
We took the opportunity to offload as many of our Winter Rally Flyers as we could (thank you Karen M3KIR) followed by several circuits of the field and a visit to the Club House where both the RSGB and RAFARS had stands.
There were lots of interesting items and equipment for sale. Several DMR radios were snapped up by Jon G0IUE to increase the number of available gear to operate our local DMR Repeater GB7WW. If you are a paid up club member and wish to try out DMR and our new repeater please get in touch with a Committee Member (see link) or join us on a Tuesday evening at the Club and we will be happy to advise you on the new machine.
UKRAINE APPEAL by Nick UR6VQ – Really good to see the Ukraine Equipment stall at the rally and some of you will know club members have been donating surplus ham gear for shipping out to the Nick in Zaporizhzhia. Ham gear is being used there to support daily life where comms have failed due to loss of internet and cellular reception has been lost. Emergency services there are using ham equipment to maintain communications where everything else has failed. Nick and his fellow Hams are doing a great job and continues to need the help, kindness and generosity of Amateurs across the world to keep critical communication routes open in his City and surrounding towns and villages.
Here are some photos from today’s Hamfest – Till next time 73
