John 2E0GTQ – Silent Key

It is with great sadness to report that Club member John 2E0GTQ passed away today, Weds 17th January. John although only recently licensed had become an active club member and supporter of our events.

John was also a keen advocate of our Sunday 4m Moonraker Nets and will be missed.

May you Rest In Peace John, 73

Minos Musing, Bantenna Banter and Decorations Down !

Tuesday the 9th of January was our first Club meeting of 2024 and as with previous years we took down the Christmas decorations and packed them away for another 12 months.

Out on the field Jacek M0PLS and Brian G6HUI got the ride on mount ready for the 7m Fibreglass mast and soon deployed the Bantenna vertical. Here we see those floodlit operations:

Meanwhile back in the comfort of the warm Village Hall Jenni M0HZT arranged a Minos Logging “Drop In” session which proved to be very popular.  Here we see Jenni with Andy 2E1GQX updating their respective laptops with the latest version of the logging programme.

Jenni highly recommends Minos and it is her preferred Logging programme for the RSGB UK activity contests.

Meanwhile HF operations were well underway and Merfyn M0HWA was active as GX3VRE operating an IC-756 by Icom and testing the Bantenna.  Plenty of contacts were made on 40m and Merfyn was pleased with the results.

Well that’s it for this week but you can be assured that next week isn’t far away and we’ll be back. Same place, same frequency.  Look forward to seeing you then. 73 from the Chippenham & District ARC Website Team.

Tuesday 9th Jan Club is Back !

Club reopens this evening from 7.30pm. We will be testing some HF gear, raising the 7m mast for operating plus climbing the ladder to take down the Xmas Decorations on behalf of the Hall Committee.

You can always rely on us to get things done at KLVH 😀
