Happy New Year 2024

From all of us at Chippenham & District Amateur Radio Club we would like to extend our very best wishes to all our members, supporters friends and families.

It’s looking like another exciting year ahead at our Kington Langley HQ, with more Presentation Nights, more Radio Operations, two more Radio Rallies (July and December) and when we get the go ahead more power for Foundation Licencees (25W), Intermediate (100W) and for Full Licencees including GX3VRE (1Kw). A great year awaits !

PACKET RADIO PRESENTATION BY KEVIN M0AHN

On Tuesday the 5th Dec we had a really interesting presentation by Kevin M0AHN. It certainly seems as though packet radio is going through a transition and a resurgence; you could say “A new Beginning”

We learned how Kevin was at the forefront of research in to new ways of sending data over the Ham Frequencies and even looking at Surfing the Internet and sharing video over NPR “New Packet Radio”.

Kevin is also working hard behind the scenes with Chris G1YGY to get the old GB7NW packet nodes back on air after many years of dormant activity at a remote location near Swindon.

And so without any further delay, here are the pictures courtesy of Andy 2E1GQX.

A big thanks to Kevin and to all those who attended. We look forward to next month’s talk which we hope to have news of very soon. Stay tuned !!
