Our 2023 Summer Rally has now been and gone but what a day it was !!

We really enjoyed running the Rally and we were so lucky with the weather. Fortunately the rain held off till around 1pm and all our traders and visitors had a mostly dry event for a change.

I’m writing this after a long long day and so please find below a selection of photographs from the Rally and not much more from me.

A big thank you to everyone who attended, supported and helped out at today’s event, we couldn’t have done it without you !!

Yes that is the sun shining !!

The Main Hall

More from the main hall. Apologies I didn’t have any images from Hall 2 but in our 2nd Hall were additional traders including our friends from Trowbridge and District ARC.

We asked Karen M3KIR what she thought of it so far and she did this 🙂

Big thanks to Alan G6YCG, Paul 2E0IZB, Jacek M0PLS, Kevin G6ZRL, Ron G1OKD, John 2E0GTQ and Chris G4HCW for all their help out on the field today. Big Shout Out to Jenni M0HZT, Merfyn M0HWA, Vicki M3HUI, Andy 2E1GQX and Karen M3KIR for all their help this weekend.

Meet and greet with Paul 2E0IZB

We hope to see you all again soon at our November event. Remember the Date SATURDAY – Yes SATURDAY the 25th November 2023, same place and opening times. Primarily an indoor Winter event but the possibility of trading on the hard standing if the weather allows.

GB7WW goes Live On Air, Final Rally Planning Meeting and more 40m Ops

It is with great pleasure to announce that GB7WW, a new 70cm DMR repeater, was switched on by Brian G6HUI at 19:15 hours on Tuesday 25th July 23. The repeater is connected to the South West Cluster and runs just two Talk Groups; TG950 and TG9. Coverage reports would be most welcome but initial reports all around Chippenham are excellent. We hope to have a presentation evening about the repeater and in particular about the South West Cluster over coming months.

Here we see Brian G6HUI switching on GB7WW:

A number of QSOs were made that evening via the new repeater and here we see John G0JYL in QSO with Nev G3LMO

At 8pm we held a final Rally Planning meeting and Chairman Brian outlined our plans and arrangements for Sunday’s rally. It certainly looks as though its going to be a big one.

Once the Rally meeting was over the remainder of the evening was spent holding general radio discussions and talks. We welcomed two new members Ron G1OKD and SWL Thomas who hopes to take his Foundation Licence in the near future.

Jacek (M0PLS) once again tried out the 40m Double Bazooka and made plenty of contacts under the Club callsign of GX3VRE. Jacek is already planning for HF Field Day activities and will be looking for operators to assist with that event in September.

That’s all for this week but we hope to see as many of you as possible on Sunday at the Wiltshire Radio Rally and Car Boot Sale – whatever the weather the rally is On On On !
