Danny – M7IKJ

Congratulations to Danny who received his shiny new licence on Saturday 24th May and the all important callsign M7IKJ.

Danny’s first Amateur Radio contacts were made the same day at 10:00 UTC on the 10m (28 Mhz) band on 28.495 USB. Danny worked M7PUC, G0IUE/m, G6HUI and M7HVX.

We caught up with Danny after his first Licenced QSOs and he said “That was really nerve wracking and thanks to all who have helped me get here”

Well done Danny – Very well deserved !

Matthew M6XBX Antenna Installation

We recently visited our youngest member Matthew M6XBX who has now relocated to Winchester in Hampshire. Matthew has been licensed since he was 9 and took his FL exam  in 2010. Now 24 years old he remains as keen as ever in the hobby radio domain and uses 27Mhz AM/FM/SSB, PMR 446, 2m/70cm and the HF Bands also. Matthew recently acquired an FT-817  that was handed down to him from his Late Grandfather Ron, G1LJT.

Matthew was keen to show us his antenna system which currently comprises of a Diamond X50 and a Sirio Signal Keeper for 10/11m.

Here we see him alongside his new antennas along with Marty the ever loving 4 legged friend:

Matthew has been using the GB3SH repeater in Southampton on 145.6625 Mhz FM CTCSS 71.9hZ and also GB7CW a new DMR “Super Repeater” actually  just up the road in Winchester and a new addition to the South West Cluster. When mobile Matthew uses a President Richard 10m Mobile Transceiver and a Yaesu FT-7800R both radios with matching hands free kits – safety first Matthew 🙂

In the Shack he has a President Jackson 2, 10/11m radio and a Yaesu FT-7900R. The new antennas have certainly given him extra range and stations in Portsmouth have been heard on 144Mhz so all is looking good.

Matthew is often mobile heading back up to visit family in Wiltshire and is usually heard CQ’ing on 2m FM with recent contacts including Dave M7PUC, Jon G0IUE, Jim M3HNL and Ben 2E0OMR.

He sends his best to all at the Club and hopes to catch up with us all soon.

Hope to see you at the Rally Matthew on the 27th July !
